How do I configure a SPAM message filter?

Filters help you organize your EMails quickly. If you receive large amounts of EMail messages per day, instead of crowding the inbox with all the messages, you can have filters set so that messages are distributed to different folders. Its like having an assistant filing messages in their appropriate boxes for you to review later. Outlook Express filters are called Message Rules.

Setting Filters (Message Rules)

1. Click on the Tools menu, select Message Rules and Mail

2. The New Mail Rule dialog box appears.

3. Select a condition for your rule. The condition we are looking for is Where the Subject line contains specific words. (The SPAM word is our key word in this situation.)

4. Now Select the Actions for your rule. We will move it to the specified folder.

5. We can now go to the Rule Description and click on the blue underlined contains specific words. Type the word SPAM and click Add then click Ok.

6. We now want to go to the blue underlined specified folder word and click on it. Click on the new folder button and type SPAM. select SPAM from the folder list and click Ok.

7. You might want to rename the mail rule New Mail Rule #1 to a simpler rule such as SPAM Filter Rule.

8. Click Ok and your done.
